CAM-X 2002 Convention Coverage

The CAM-X Canadian Call Center Management Association held its 2002 convention and trade show in warm and beautiful Nassau, Bahamas, October 20-23.

Barbara Bradbury, CAM-X President for 2002-2003, said, “I am truly encouraged by the enthusiasm, optimism, and energy that was so evident. The board of directors is anxious to capture that momentum,” and they have already been hard at work.

Vendors present and supporting the convention included Amtelco, Capri Insurance Services, Professional Teledata, Startel, Szeto Technologies, and Telescan.

Jack Agati was the keynote speaker and provided an entertaining and thought-provoking inaugural address. Other speakers included Marc Bombenon who discussed leadership, Tom VanOuse who spoke on optimizing agent work time, John Whitehead who talked about preparing for change, and Mike Shantz who shared ideas on buying new equipment.

The highlight of the convention was the awards banquet. At this event the winners of the awards of excellence and call center awards of distinction where announced.

The annual general meeting was also held during the convention for CAM-X members. During the annual meeting, many decisions were made to move the organization forward and help the association grow.

The convention was not all work, however. There was time squeezed in for a well-deserved break and round of beach olympics.

The convention concluded with a gala evening banquet where Paul Lloyd, president of Answer Plus By Pasword was honored with the Tom Ryan Award for Ethics, Integrity & Quality Above All.
