Vendor
Profile Guidelines
A regular feature of Connections Magazine is
vendor profiles. This document is
provided so that you can write a compelling and effective profile.
Overview: Each issue of Connections Magazine will include a
profile of one of our advertisers. The
profiles will also be put on-line. Although
we can only run one vendor profile per issue, we will put all profiles on the
Website once they have been received. Vendor
profiles will be offered first to those advertisers on the 10-time rate, based
on ad size and commitment date. (This
is regularly priced at $2000.)
General Guidelines: Your profile should be written in a third person style, from
the perspective of an outside person reporting on your organization.
The length should be about 1,600 words.
Title: The title should simply be the name of your company.
A subtitle may be used to indicate your company’s future focus, mission,
etc. The subtitle should be concise and compelling.
Copy: The
copy should read like a news report. This
is not the place for self-promotion, hype, or spin, no mater how subtle.
Doing so will hurt the profile’s credibility and decrease its affect.
Also, do not capitalize text nor use bold, italic, or underline
formatting.
Content: Possibilities include company history and background, little
known facts, interesting trivia, pertinent information, mission statement,
vision, future goals, key players, organizational structure, contact
information, company size, markets served, future plans, product summaries,
and so forth. Whatever you
include, the key is to make it interesting, informative, and compelling.
Editing: Profiles may be edited for both content and length at the
discretion of Connections staff. If
requested, edits will be made available for your review and comment prior to
publication.
Non-writers: If you do not have the staff or the time to write your
profile, we can refer you to a professional writer who, for a fee, will
interview you and write your profile.
Web site: Your profile will be included in the new “Company
Profile” section on the Connections Website.
Once completed, your profile will be added, even if has not yet been
published. Also, this is intended
to be a “living” document and can be updated as needed.
Submission: All profiles must be submitted via email.
The profile can be included in the body of the email or preferably
attached as a plain text file or Microsoft Word document.
Mailed and faxed submissions cannot be considered.
Email all submissions to dehaan@connectionsmagazine.com.
We
look forward to receiving your profile and sharing it with our readers; these
guidelines will help us to achieve this goal.
