Article Guidelines

Connections Magazine welcomes articles of potential interest to our readers.  This information is provided so that you can submit articles with the greatest chance of being accepted for publication.  We look forward to receiving your articles and sharing it with our readers; these guidelines will help us to achieve this goal.

General Guidelines:  For your article, select a topic of relevant interest to our readers and which you have ample personal knowledge or experience.  An ideal length is 800 to 1,200 words (200 to 500 words for our newsfeed).  Shorter articles can also be used.  Longer articles will generally be edited for length, used as a whitepaper, or divided into two parts for publication in consecutive issues.

Title:  The title should be concise yet inviting, catchy, or intriguing.  If desired, a subtitle may be used.  Include your name as you wish it to be printed.

Text:  Your submission should read either like a news story or an editorial.  Promotion of yourself, company, products, or services is not acceptable.  Third person writing is best for “how to articles,” advice, or factual information.  Vendors are advised to write in third person.   First person accounts are ideal for sharing personal experiences or making recommendations.

Editing:  Articles will be edited for both content and length; additional text could be added.  This is at the sole discretion of Connections Magazine and should not be taken personally nor interpreted as a negative reflection on your writing skills and ability; it is a reality of publishing.  Unfortunately, not all submissions can be used.

Web site:  Once published, your article will also be included in the “Articles” section on the Connections Website.   Over 750 articles are on-line.  Even though Connections Magazine has a incredibly long “shelf” life, the Website further extends your article's impact.

Compensation:  At Connections Magazine we are not able to compensate writers.  We also feel it is inappropriate to trade articles for ad space, press release considerations, or other rewards.  We do ask you to include a short editorial-style write-up about yourself.  This will be added at the conclusion of your article, providing indirect promotion in exchange for your article.

Submission:  All articles must be submitted via email.  Articles should be attached as a Microsoft Word document.  Email all submissions to Connect@ConnectionsMagazine.com.  Mailed and faxed articles will not be considered.

Editorial Policy: Authors who submit articles to Connections Magazine agree to the following:

  1. Edits may be made at the discretion of the Editor regarding length, style, grammar, organization, syntax, and clarity.

  2. Article publication and placement are at the sole discretion of the Editor.

The editors and their authorized agents will act in good faith to preserve the author's intended message.  However, the editor reserves the right to edit any manuscripts submitted.  Accepted articles will be edited for length, style, grammar, organization, syntax, and clarity.  Authors will not be notified of edits that the editors and their authorized agents may make.  Articles could also be used as a whitepaper.  Acceptance of these terms is a precondition of publication by Connections Magazine.
